Andy Kane

Andy has been a part of the Food for Thought team since 2012. She holds a BSc in Human Nutrition from the University of Otago and loves educating the future generation on food and nutrition. As a new mum Andy is enjoying the first-hand experience of nourishing children's growing bodies. In her free time, she enjoys an active lifestyle filled with running, surfing, tennis, and chasing after her toddler.

Naomi has been part of the Food for Thought team for over ten years. With a BSc (Human Nutrition) and PGDipDiet from the University of Otago, Naomi is passionate about educating our future generation on food and nutrition in an engaging and fun way that they can then use in their everyday lives. Being involved with schools in different areas works well with Naomi’s active lifestyle and enjoyment in getting out and about exploring places.
Nova Martin

Nova is one of our long-standing Nutritionists, delivering Food for Thought since 2011. She has a BSc in Human Nutrition from Massey University, a Diploma in Public Health, and is a qualified chef. Nova has a strong love and passion for all that is food. Nova has two young children herself, so has first hand experience on how important language and role modelling around food can be. Outside of life’s responsibilities, you’ll find Nova at the boxing gym or walking half marathons.
Karli Adams-Stachurski

Karli join the Food for Thought team in 2022, after graduating from the University of Otago with a BSc in Human Nutrition and Foodservice Management and a MAppSc in Advanced Nutrition Practice. Full of energy and enthusiasm for educating tamariki around food and nutrition, Karli loves travelling around the South Island facilitating sessions and exploring her backyard.
Deb McIntosh

Deb initially joined the Food for Thought team in 2022 and after a year away joined the team again in 2024. She completed her BSc and MSc in Nutrition at the University of Otago and has worked on several research projects investigating nutrition and well-being in primary school kids. Deb loves being in the classroom sharing knowledge on how food can help us thrive. Outside of work you might find Deb at a local cafe, exploring a new trail, going for a cold dip, sharing a meal with friends, or reading a book.
Laura Davies

Laura joined the Food for Thought Team in October 2024. She holds a BSc in Human Nutrition and a MAppSc in Advanced Nutrition Practice from the University of Otago and comes from a background in healthcare. Laura’s love of food and cooking is what first drew her to nutrition, and she is delighted to be able to share her knowledge and passion for food in the classroom. Laura also enjoys spending time outdoors walking, swimming, and skiing!
Nutrition Advisors from the Heart Foundation also support the delivery of Food for Thought in schools across Aotearoa.
